Kumbh Mela -the first bath

Today the first  holy bath  - Makar Sankranti

 Today – January 14, 2013 – is the first Shahi Snan date in the 
Kumbh Mela 2013. 
It coincides with the Makar Sankranti. Millions of people from 
India and around the world are expected to start the holy ritualistic 
bath at 5:00 AM on January 14, 2013. Holy men from different sects 
will be converging on the banks of Ganga during the 55-day festival.
